Timberwolf Tribute

 On Friday, October 10, Adair Living History (ALH) and Adair Village welcomed more than fifty members of the National Timberwolf Pups Association (NTPA). These are relatives and close friends of members of the 104^th Timberwolf Infantry Division. Many of their fathers, uncles, friends and others who served in World War II trained at Camp Adair.

As you may know, ALH is a 501c3 organization tasked with the renovation of a building that was used at Camp Adair. In addition, ALH will create an Interpretive Center for the history of the Adair area.

 Much work has been done on the building, (see accompanying photos), and the board of ALH was thrilled to welcome the Timberwolf Pups to “our” barracks building. Bill Currier, Mayor, and John Wilson, Council member in Adair Village joined us in the Community Room in Adair.

 Coffee, cookies, and cold water bottles were provided, and the crowd was standing room only, as Mary Jamieson, ALH Board Member, and a member of the Timberwolf Pups organization, gave a presentation of the creation, use, and demolition of Camp Adair. Most of the group learned facts they had not heard before. Many questions were asked and answered, and the attendees showed a keen interest in the topic.

 Barbara Melton, ALH Board member, then gave a brief description of how ALH came to be organized, and some of the work that has been done in the fifteen years of the organization’s history. Again, questions were asked and answered and then it was time to tour the barracks building that ALH had been working on for so long.

 Board members were pleased and humbled by the many words of praise that came our way. We all had the opportunity to speak to individual members of the Timberwolf Pups, and we feel grateful every day for the work their ancestors and friends did in the 1940s to keep freedom strong in our country.

 It was a wonderful event, that we all are grateful to have been part of. Any time members the National Timberwolf Pups Association care to visit again, they will be welcomed with open arms.
